OCPoints Weekend #2 - "Death of a Salesman"

February 19th-21st
High School drama students who attend Opening Weekend of this American classic for only $7 will get a point for their school's drama programs. Students should write their name and school on the back of their ticket stub, and leave it at the Box Office during intermission. After May 2nd, points will be added up and prizes will be awarded. Just to refresh your memory on the great prizes available...

Prizes
*Grand Prize (must earn more than 20 points total to qualify)
-Complimentary COMPLETE SHOW props rental for one of your 2010-11 productions (includes any furniture or small/hand props in stock)
-Complimentary group workshop on topic of your choosing led by an OCP teaching artist

*Runner-up (must earn more than 10 points total to qualify)
-One complimentary prop piece rental for each production in your 2010-11 season

As of today, only ONE school has earned a point! So, leading the field with one, is Skutt Catholic High School. Send those kids over here this weekend!

Group tickets for "Death of a Salesman"

The Playhouse has several opportunities for discounted tickets to this production. Our Lucky 7 tickets allow students to attend a performance on opening weekend (February 19-21) for only $7 per student. Lucky 7 tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 553-0800. Students must show student ID at the Box Office window when picking up tickets. Group discounts are available for groups of 15 people or more throughout rest of the run. Groups will receive one complimentary ticket for every 20 tickets purchased. School groups will receive one complimentary adult ticket for every 10 student tickets purchased (excluding Lucky 7 Tickets.) Call Karli Newman at 553-4890 x147 to reserve your group.

Educator’s Night - $15 for show and reception!

All Shook Up – March 7th
A special event scheduled around one of our 11 productions which will feature a pre-show reception and “meet and greet” with a member of the production team - JUST FOR TEACHERS! Receptions: 5:30 pm-6:30 pm, Performance: 6:30 pm. Advanced reservations are required by calling Karli Newman at 553-4890 x147.

Student Representative Board sponsors Ice Cream Social for "All Shook Up"

March 7th - $15 per student
The inaugural social event of the 2009-10 Student Rep Board is not to be missed! Drama students from around the metro will have the opportunity to see the matinee production of All Shook Up and then attend an exclusive event just for them! Attendees will have a chance to meet cast members of the production, socialize with other drama students, take a backstage tour and sample "Soda Fountain Cuisine" at its finest. All this for only $15. Encourage students to make their reservations by calling Karli Newman at 553-4890 x 147 before seats are gone!

Reminder - Theatre Career Expo next week

Tuesday, February 23: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
(Attend at anytime throughout the day, stay for however long you like!)

Career Expo Schedule:

•Tours of the Omaha Community Playhouse available throughout the day for your students

Resume Critique Station:
•Have your students bring their resumes
•Professionals will look them over and give them feedback.

Workshops:
•Physical Comedy- How does it work? How do you pull it off to make it believable and funny?
•Backstage Tricks- Ever wonder how things crash, boom and bang? Learn the tricks in this workshop.
•Costume Fun- Learn a few tricks to costuming a show. See a special costume project -you won’t believe your eyes!
•Commericals- How do you get into commercial work? How is it different than stage work? Learn how this world is so different, and yet the same in our industry.
•Moving Light Magic- Take a look at moving lights, programming boards and the gadgets that make our stages glow with beauty. (Brought to us special by TMS; Theatrical Media Services)

Teacher tours of facility:
•Teachers have their own tour (separate from the students) of the Playhouse
•Learn more about this two way relationship between the Playhouse and your school

Introducing OCPoints

See a show. Get a point. Get a prize.
High Schoolers who attend any of the five shows listed below on Opening Weekend for only $7 will get a point for their schools. Students will write their name and school on the back of their ticket stub, and leave it at the Box Office during intermission. After May 2nd, points will be added up and prizes will be awarded.

Posters outlining all of this information are in the mail and should be to you within the next couple days. Student Rep Board members will be sharing the information during your drama club/class mailings. Point total updates will be sent to teachers each month in the Sharing the Stage eNewsletter.

Call the Box Office at 553-0800 or visit the Box Office in person to purchase a Lucky 7 ticket. Students must show their school’s student identification when picking up the ticket at the Will Call window. Each student is limited to one ticket per production. Or, go in a group. Contact Karli Newman at 553-4890 ext. 147 to make your group reservation or for more information. Pre-payment for group reservation is required seven days in advance of your chosen night. Each student is limited to one ticket. Bonus: Theatre educators who bring 10 or more students may receive their ticket at a reduced rate!

The 2009-10 Student Representative Board held its inaugural meeting on November 23rd. This motivated and creative group of students have provided valuable feedback regarding the OCP and its relationship to high schools, helped coordinate upcoming collaborative events and programs, shared upcoming events in their own programs and have met with Playhouse staff members to learn more about their careers here at the Playhouse. Our December staff guest was Susie Collins, Associate Director for the Playhouse. January's guest is Tim Schmad, President of the Playhouse.

"Fiddler on the Roof" auditions

Audition Dates: February 13th at 1pm & February 14th at 7:00pm
Production Dates: May 28 – June 27, 2010
Rehearsals begin early April

Casting Needs:
All roles are open.
Approximately 20 men, ages 18 – 65+
Approximately 10 women, ages 16 – 60+
2 young girls (between 7 – 12 years old)
1 boy (between 9 – 12 years old)

Please bring 16 – 32 bars of music to sing. A pianist will be provided. Initial auditions for this production will consist of participants presenting their musical selection and learning a brief movement routine.
